中国全国性的电视文艺奖。首届发奖仪式于1987年5月30日晚采用现场直播《今夜星光灿烂》文艺晚会方式举行。举办该电视文艺奖的目的是为繁荣电视文艺创作，提高电视文艺节目质量，办好电视文艺专栏，丰富屏幕。首次晚会有77个节目分别获一、二、三等奖，中国中央电视台的1987年春节联欢晚会获“特别文艺节目”最佳节目奖。另外，有26人获单项奖Chinesenational TVArtsand Culture Award.
